  56. Sir,the problem is good and exlanation too is best.But I want to raise an doubt it is:The final speed of the bullet is 75m/s that means for it to reach 125m the time required is 1.7 sec but by that time the ballon will move a distance of 41.6m .so it is obvious that bullet won't hit the ballon since it has travelled a additional distance of 41.6m.Hope my doubt is reasonable .
    6 years ago by Sathvik Joel
    Ans 1 ->
    yes and also if speed of bullet while hitting the ballon is 0 then it is certain that bullet would have been at some distance from ballon when its speed and ballon's are equal and after that bullet's spped decrease hence separation increase and the bullet will hit the ballon
    6 years ago by Mihir Meena
    Ans 2 ->
    No but we r taking the relative velocity Which means velocity of bullet when balloon is considered to be at rest

  64. Sir I would appreciate it if you would upload a motivational video to help students to prepare for IIT that contains: - Getting out of materialistic desires that would turn our lives to dust - Distractions that would destroy us for sure There are MANY friends who were intelligent but due to their pull towards desires like smoking/drinking they are now suffering! sure they may sometimes look happy! but behind their faces inside them lies a big sad person that always wished to return back to the past and change their habits. It melts you down to see such people suffer! People may say that smoking/drinking is a bad addiction! but... the BIGGEST AND MOST COMMON ADDICTION OF ANY STUDENT IS TOWARDS SEXUAL PLEASURES! But NO ONE talks about it (except... my english teacher... thanks to her I chose the better path) But there are many people out there who have potential to do something GREAT in life! But they get trapped by their own desires! For a person... STUDENT to study... he must have the ability to see what is the TOP PRIORITY! but there are people who can not take the decision! their young enthusiastic genuine brilliant side slips off from their grasp and dies off because NO ONE SPEAKS ABOUT THAT!!! So... I just used this opportunity to speak my heart out... I'm sure you know what we students are going through.... I THANK YOU FOR TELLING WHAT EXACTLY HAS TO BE DONE BY A BRILLIANT STUDENT!!!!! but likewise please o please make videos.... for telling us WHAT NOT TO DO!!!! I would very much appreciate it! PS. This is a message from a BIG GROUP!

  66. Sir plz help! plz reply... (doubt asked at the end of this comment) if I use the equations from ground frame I get: Y=height gained by balloon= 125 + 25t (I consider an equivalent problem where at t=0 the balloon has gained a height os 125 m) and y= ut-5tt Also I put v=final velocity of bullet=u-10t Now if I assume that the bullet hits the balloon with 0 velocity then the y displacements of the two moving bodies equalize to give Y=y at a time t when the final velocity becomes 0. From third equation 0=u-10t; u=10t Putting it in equation Y=y we get 125 + 25t = 10tt - 5tt which gives t=2.5(1+sqrt(5)) s here u = 10t = 25(1+sqrt(5)) m/s which is completely different from the solution withe the shifted reference frame... so questions 1) is the above solution wrong? question 2) if the answer to question 1 is no... then why do the values not match? if yes... where have I gone wrong?
    7 years ago by PSai Krishna Kvmb
    Ans 1 ->
    Your Mistake - you equated the y displacements of both at zero final velocity that is not the case... For minimum initial speed y displacements should be equal when the bullet speed is 25m/s as after this instant bullet speed decreases and it cannot approach the balloon... think again and resolve with your method...

    see its actually v.v-u.u=(-)2gh....this is the actual formula where it is taken negative but observe properly u-25 is the intial speed which means (U). so it becomes(-)u.u =(-)2gh.....(-) gets cancelled and we get the final step..cool brother ur doubt is correct but remember to make ur basics pillar more strong before coming to adv illustrations i didnt mean u arent fit for this but i meant its more good if ur basics are more stronger
