Distance is the magnitude of displacement right ! then how distance is equal to distance traveled all the time ?If a person travels from one point to another point not in a straight line path .Then displacement is the shortest distance along with direction and distance is its magnitude .distance traveled (also called as path length )is not equal to distance here then how distance and distance traveled are always equal ?

    path length is always considered as distance if nothing else is specified... and displacement is the airline length between start and end points as you mentioned... as you are clear to this no need to create any confusion...
