    The basic concept behind application of Nodal Analysis is conservation of charge & for this to be possible system must be isolated, in order to write the equation we apply Initial charge = Final charge, if initially conductors of isolated system is neutral then only we substitute value of Initial Charge=0 otherwise whatever value of charged isolated system is given , we need to substitute that value

We have to find the equivalent capacitance one with water and then with air then using the energy formula we will evaluate the potential energy ...after that we will find the force by taking the derivative of potential energy and equate it to pgh to find the height. Please check my solution .and correct me if I'm not doing it correctly with due respect..... Tathagat. Ps the answer generated by my solution does not match the answer generated by the solution above .

    No. When a conductor is placed in vacuum the capacity to which it can be charged can be taken infinity if conductor metal strength is taken infinite... whereas the capacitance of body will be finite as it is the ratio of charge to potential difference of body wrt the reference... like a conducting sphere has capacitance 4(pi)(epsilon 0)R when placed in vacuum... but it can be charged to any extent depending upon its potential as in vacuum no breakdown takes place...

    From one extreme we have calculated the time to fill the capacitor i.e. the time from extreme to mean position which is one quarter of the time period of whole motion when the slab reaches its initial position after one complete oscillation thats why we multiply it with 4...
