  2. Sir i tried using the concept of degenerate ellipse in the following quest but wasnt able to get the rt ans..... A tunnel is dug along the diameter of Earth of radius R and a small body is dropped into it at the surface.the time taken by the body to reach centre of the planet is.......

    Ans 1 ->
    I considered the earth to be a pt mass about which the small particle would orbit in degenerate elliptical path with semi major R/2. ................the correct ans of the ques is (pi/2)(R/g)^1/2.......please help.

    Ans 2 ->
    degenerated ellipse concept won't be valid here as g is changing inside the earth with depth...

    Ans 3 ->
    But sir when the planet is falling into the sun in the illustration its acceleration is also changing as GM/x^2. Then why is degen ellipse concept valid here......thnxs

  4. Sir how to find using integration? I tried doing this by writing expression of field in terms of x and then using field=dv/dt or vdv/dx ......but was unable to get time purely as a function of x.......please help

    Ans 1 ->
    That will be too lengthy and the solution will not be of any use for your purpose... above explanation is the best way to handle it thats why I have given it as an illustration here...
