  2. Cant first the electron be excieted to n= inf , and then de-excieted to get max wavelength ???

    Ans 1 ->
    When spectrum of a gas is to be produced, it is done in the way you have written... but during de-excitation all possible radiation wavelengths will be emitted along with max wavelength...

    To get it excited to n=inf a very large amount of energy will be required.
