  18. sir for which case we have to take power as negative???
    6 years ago by Dharamjeet Singh
    Ans 1 ->
    For concave lenses, as the focal length is negative, the power (P=1/f) is also negative. Hope you understood!

  38. sir while deriving mirror or lens formula we already take into account the sign conventions. sir then why while solving problems we apply sign conventions again?
    8 years ago by R Rohit
    Ans 1 ->
    Its so bcoz ... while deriving we considered a particular case and applied sign conventions therefore it gets generalised but when we again apply sign convention in the general formula we get the particualr case back.

  48. Sir When a lens is painted in middle how many images will be formed ? When a lens is cut and separated perpendicular to principle axis two images are formed which act as two light sources as for coherent experiments. Based on this 2 images should be formed but in books it given that as optical axis is same so only one image will be formed. Please help to answer this phenomenon.

  52. what is the difference between lens maker formulae and lens formulae
    9 years ago by vaibhav gupta
    Ans 1 ->
    Lens maker formula can be used for finding the focal length of a lens in some medium. Lens formula is used for finding image or object position or focal length in air.
